ROHS2 Screening Service to Assist Medical & Monitoring Instrumentation Industry

Instrumentation Industry
ITA Labs is offering the medical and monitoring instrumentation industry a screening service specifically for finished products or sub assemblies to help them comply with the new Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS Recast) deadline of the 22nd July 2014. Companies who place products with electrical or electronic components on the market will be required to ensure that their suppliers have provided them with the supplementary information to support their claim that the products are RoHS2 compliant.

ITA Labs is offering a service aiming to test only the product elements that need to be tested for compliance with the legislation. Consequently, this would reduce the cost through identifying the items most likely to be at risk. The final report, which has a traffic light approach, will become an extra assurance that materials declarations from the supply chain are trustworthy and comply with the National Measurement Office (NMO) standards.

“Currently, testing commonly falls between the supplier and the company placing product on the market. However, both groups should be using testing to back up documentation now required with the RoHS recast;” comments Mark Dowling, Quality Manager, ITA Labs. “However, we can assist these companies by offering the most cost-effective approach using the wide range of testing equipment in our laboratories.”

ITA Labs has been conducting ROHS testing services for at least 10 years and has a team of high calibre electronics and polymers experts. Testing is based on the IEC62321 Standard for the Determination of levels for the six restricted substances.
